Over the two days of the Nimbus Ninety IGNITE summit earlier this month, the proliferation of the Internet of Things was regularly sited as the most disruptive force that will impact on both our personal lives and our businesses over the next five to ten years.
In his keynote presentation, Matt Davies, EMEA Director of Product Marketing for Splunk, predicted that by 2020 there will be 25 billion connected devices. Meanwhile, Rudy de Waele, CEO of Shift 2020 claimed that 'the biggest application of wearables is the Internet of Things and this will have an impact on all industry sectors and organisations over the next 5 years'
These predictions are certainly eye-opening - are we getting carried away with ourselves?
This infographic from next-gen collaboration specialist Xively would suggest not. It states that in 2020, every human being on earth will be connected to 10 separate devices.
