He was previously Chief Digital and Information Officer at Surrey Police and Sussex Police, helping both forces utilise information, technology and innovation to drive better engagements with their respective communities. He was key to ensuring digital innovation reached the heart of these organisations, believing that technology should complement policing. He also worked with police services nationally to deliver innovative solutions to their everyday challenges.
Tim Hearn, Head of VMware Cloud on AWS - Public Sector UK & Ireland, AWS
Tim Hearn is a technology leader of 30 years and heads up the VMware Cloud on AWS business for Public Sector across the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Tim and his team help customers and partners adopt VMware Cloud on AWS as the Hybrid Cloud solution of choice to accelerate their journey to AWS. Tim works with VMware to ensure customers get the best support from both companies by deploying appropriate programs and engagement from our mutual partners.
Prior joining AWS, Tim spent six years in senior leadership roles at VMware (running the UK Public Sector business and then building the VMware Cloud on AWS business in Northern Europe), as well as tech industry’s leading companies, such as IBM, Cisco and Juniper.
Neill Smith, Head of Infrastructure, Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Economy (ARE), Scottish Government
Neill is a Cloud, Virtualisation and Linux specialist. He is currently the Head of Infrastructure at The Scottish Government (ARE Directorate). Neill specialises in leading and managing multidisciplinary technical teams. He also has strong hands-on technical knowledge, whilst being highly proficient in Cloud, Virtualisation and DevOps technologies. Neill is an accomplished public speaker, having previously spoken at numerous major technical conferences including AWS re:Invent, VMworld and Gartner Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies.
